Glycol Chiller w/ Isolation Exchanger Cooling Indoor Water Tank
There are various process applications where the indoor cooling media must remain fresh water (no glycol). But, the climate is in a region where the outdoor chiller must run glycol to protect freezing. In such a case it is common to use an additional heat exchanger indoors. The heat exchanger would have a glycol side which is serviced by the outdoor chiller and glycol loop. And the other side of the heat exchanger would be the fresh water indoors. In this example the chiller has internal glycol pump and reservoir. On larger chillers the glycol reservoir and pump may be external and adjacent to the chiller.
